Akira is a rebellious teenager who no longer wants to be part of the human world. Akira questions why her parents have kept her from the ocean. Why have they put her in every extracurricular activity except swimming? At night the merpeople call out from the ocean to the merpeople still trapped inside human bodies. Akira dreams of this community of merpeople, where you can be your true self, where everything is not about competition, status, and money.
